In this 5-week course we will dive into the world of burlesque. Where it
comes from, what it is and how to make it come to life on stage. Each week we will dedicate time to learning a new aspect of burlesque performance ranging from the history and styles of burlesque, to the art of the tease, peels, props, and costumes, all concluding with what to do when you’re ready for the stage.

This course will be more instructional in nature, though we will start to put everything we’re learning into action. There is A LOT of information to cover in five weeks, so this class is going to go by fast. Depending on which topic we are on, plan to spend about 45-60 minutes for discussion and 30-45 minutes of practice per class.

A notebook and writing utensil will definitely come in handy!

If you are ready to create your first number or are looking to make
something new for the stage, this class is for you. Through this 10-week course we will have 5 class sessions to work through the life cycle of creating a new
act. From concept to costume, when this course is complete, you’ll have a fully actualized number ready to perform. But be prepared to do some
work outside of class as well. You'll have two weeksin-between
each class to allow for plenty of time to work on your act.

When we meet in person, class time will be spent reviewing the work you're doing week to week, in addition to trouble shooting any issues that arise.

Please note, choreography is not created for you, though you can expect to
be given suggestions throughout the course of the class.
